The Eames Plastic Side Chair is the updated version of the legendary Fiberglass Chair by American designers Charles and Ray Eames. This Eames Vitra chair is a re-imagining of the first mass-produced plastic chair. Designed in collaboration with Zenith Plastics for the Museum of Modern Art’s « Low Cost Furniture Design » competition in New York in 1948, it was the first industrially manufactured plastic chair. Natural forms and functionality are the hallmarks of the Eames design team, and are fully reflected in the design of the DSR (Dining Side chair Rod base) chair. Published by Vitra, the Eames Plastic Chair DSR stands out as a must-have piece with its metal rod frame construction. The Eames Vitra chair has a chrome frame with interlaced metal rods. It has gone down in history as the « Eiffel Tower ». Drawing inspiration from the colour palette developed by Charles and Ray Eames, Vitra defined four colour combinations for the DSR model’s Eiffel Tower seat shell and base: mustard and lemon, sea blue and sky blue, forest and dark green, as well as pebble grey and Eames Sea Foam Green. This version can be used both indoors and outdoors.
