Arne Jacobsen designed the Swan and Egg armchairs for the lobby and reception of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. This project allowed Jacobsen to conceive a global project, integrating architecture and furniture design. In 1958, the Swan, produced by Fritz Hansen, was a technological innovation, with only curves and no straight lines. The shell is moulded in synthetic material and padded with polyurethane foam; the base is made of polished aluminium. The Swan sofa is ideal for both public spaces and the home.
