With the Musciarabia Grand carpet, Fornasetti takes the visual illusion game even further through an immersive and monumental geometric composition. Inspired by the « Geometrico » pattern imagined by Piero Fornasetti in 1954 for a screen of the Atelier, this drawing transforms the surface of the carpet into a real graphic labyrinth where lines and perspectives seem to extend to infinity. Declined here in a more generous format, the pattern gains in breadth and visual intensity. The geometric repetitions accentuate the effect of depth while the trompe-l’oeil blurs the spatial markers, giving the impression of a moving and hypnotic architecture. Hand-knotted in Nepal from 100% New Zealand wool, the Musciarabia Grand Rug plays on different velvet heights to reinforce the reliefs and the feeling of three-dimensionality. This meticulous craftsmanship also brings a tactile richness that highlights the complexity of the pattern. Through this creation, CC-Tapis and Fornasetti combine textile know-how and visual research to give birth to an immersive, architectural and timeless decorative piece.
