To celebrate its 80th anniversary, Alvar Aalto’s stool 60 is being produced in a special edition, with the seat colours taken directly from Alvar Aalto’s Paimio sanatorium. Designed in 1933, the stool 60 has become a design icon. Originally created for the Viipuri Library, it created a sensation with its three birch-plywood L-shaped legs. The stool 60 represented a new approach to design: the use of wood rather than metal was revolutionary in its time. Produced by Artek, this stackable stool, which has become timeless, adapts to all spaces, domestic or public, and is available in a variety of seat finishes: natural, white laminate or black linoleum.
