Description
The Plastic Armchairs designed by Charles and Ray Eames in the 1950s were presented for the first time as part of the « Low Cost Furniture Design » competition organised by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The shell with its organic lines was originally made of fibreglass. Re-issued by Vitra with a polypropylene shell, the Eames Plastic DAR (Dining Armchair Rod base) still offers great comfort at an affordable price. The base of the Eiffel Tower is made of shiny chrome plated steel rods. It’s a small chair ideal for longer meals. The Eames Plastic Chair collection is now produced with a new seat height of 43cm, meeting new furniture standards.
