For its new collection, Hay invited French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to create a new range of furniture for the University of Copenhagen. The collection includes a chair, a bar stool and various tables. The designers were inspired by the simple identity of a university chair designed by the architect Bernt Pedersen. The designers of the Copenhagen collection sought to emulate the simplicity that characterises this trestle-legged chair while at the same time creating a range of school furniture that is in keeping with the times and can adapt to the functional needs of a university. The collection diverges somewhat from the institutional spirit of Pedersen’s chair in its originality and its shapes. The Copenhagen Table 30 consists of an oak top covered with linoleum, fixed on solid oak trestle legs. This dining room table can be paired with colourful chairs from the same collection.
