What immediately strikes in the Bread console, designed by Faye Toogood for Tacchini as part of the Bread and Butter collection, is the sincerity of the gesture that gave rise to it: two sliced ciabattas, their slices stacked and balanced by hand, an organic structure that emerges from the simplest daily life to become, once carved in the solid ash tree, a piece of furniture with a remarkable presence. It is precisely this approach rooted in the making, in the material and in the model that defines the experimental approach of the studio Toogood and confers to each piece of the collection an authenticity that the drawing alone would not have produced. The console celebrates the warmth and tactility of wood at its most generous: ash, worked to reveal the richness of its natural grain, dialogue with a maple marking tinged with a delicate yellow that crosses the surface like a soft and poetic evocation of the buttered bread, symbol of this daily happiness that Toogood and Tacchini have chosen to put at the heart of their collaboration. Piece of character as well as functional furniture, the Bread console naturally finds its place in an entrance that wishes to assert a strong identity at first glance, along a corridor, in the back of a living room or in a hotel space where one seeks to introduce an organic and warm note far from the agreed codes of luxury. It is obviously associated with side tables of the same collection to compose a coherent and living whole, but knows just as much to impose itself alone, carried by this rare quality of truly well thought out objects: telling something without ever having to explain it.
