Known for his work in wood throughout his career, Hans J. Wegner has often explored the limits and potential of other materials. The chaise CH88T is the perfect example. Wegner originally developed the chaise CH88 as a prototype with coloured legs for the 1955 Helsingborg International Exhibition in Sweden. Several decades later, Carl Hansen put this chair into production to celebrate Wegner’s 100th anniversary in 2014. The chaise CH88T is versatile, elegant and functional. Its stackable design brilliantly combines wood and industrial steel, highlighting Wegner’s ability to give softness to minimalist forms. The steel frame supports a steam-curved wooden seat and backrest with curved ends that form a natural support for the arms. The Chair CH88T Carl Hansen is available in a range of woods in different finishes and with a stainless steel or black lacquered frame. CH88 is also available with an upholstered seat.
