Alexander Girard’s Wooden Dolls are a family of sculpted figures representing human characters and animals. Inspired by the folk art objects in his personal collection, Girard created these decorative objects in 1952 for his own use in his home in Santa Fe. At 4.15:1 scale, the Wooden Dolls No. 1 and No. 9 super large, measuring around 80 centimetres in height, are no longer small decorative figurines, but bold personalities playing a leading role in any environment. Like the smaller models, the giant Wooden Dolls Vitra are made and painted by hand, true to the spirit of Alexander Girard’s originals. Although the differences can be very subtle, each wooden piece is truly unique.The Wooden Dolls super large Vitra are numbered editions limited to 1000 pieces per model.
